2019 Wells Fargo Championship: DraftKings PGA Picks

DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo projections for the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hallow are here. Tee times posted here.

Regular PGA Tour play resumes this weekend after last weekend’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which used a 2-player team format. DraftKings didn’t run a slate for that tourney, so we’ll jump right into this week.

Top Lock: Tony Finau, $9.3K

Finau has been extremely consistent this season, with his only miss cut coming from a 72/72 at the Waste Management Open. He offers a high-floor and high-ceiling at a discount from the top-tier players.

Phil Mickelson is a similar quality and price option here, as he has great course history. However, I would consider him a little riskier than Finau, and more likely to carry high ownership. If you’re mass entering, you should have some of both guys.

Top Fade: Rory Mcllroy ($11.8k)

Rory Mcllroy is the favorite this week and the most expensive player. Prior to the Masters (t-21st) he had 6 straight top-6 finishes, and he has two titles here at Quail Hallow previously.

However, at $11.8k on DraftKings you need a win from Mcllroy, and a narrow win might not be enough. His moneyline odds of +600 imply a 14.2% win probability, and I’ll certainly own him at a lower percentage than that, likely settling between 5-10%.

Top Values: Peter Malnati ($6.7k), Denny McCarthy ($7.0k)

If you do pay up for Rory, you’ll need a few bargain bin players. Both of these guys had trouble making cuts early in the season, but have been playing better.

They have 70-80 point upside on DraftKings, which is good value at this price range. I likely won’t own more than 5% of any of the players cheaper than Malnati at $6.7k.
